Our Daytona Beach weekend getaway with our friends, Paul and Kristi, was a huge success . . . other than Sid’s horrific sunburn, my cut toe and the carnival room. Yes, our hotel room was pretty much a funhouse room with mirrors on 90% of the flat surfaces. I was scared to sit on the pleather couch. The pool, the DJ and the beach, the company and the food and drinks were all first rate. Needless to say, I’m on a diet after having a full 360 degree view – and just hoping no one else did – ug.
We also flew out of Hagerstown for the first time and it was just too easy! No paying for parking, no hassles and no Beltway. Loved it!
Paul and Sid are perfect traveling companions; they acted like they were on an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and were on a mission for Krispy Kremes, chili dogs and ice cream. Those two really, I think, bonded over either glazed donuts or maybe it was while standing shoulder-to-shoulder while staring at the menu board on the side of the ice cream truck. I don’t know, but something clicked and now they’re planning a cruise.
Great times with great friends, but I couldn’t wait to get home. It’s the best part of going away!
